Blockchain technology began with cryptocurrencies, but has expanded FAR beyond the scope of the finance and banking world! With many more businesses and applications being built on the technology, it is no surprise that these sectors constitute a mass decentralization that will take the world by a storm! I can’t say I’m surprised. With blockchain, the cost of running a platform is distributed to multiple participants AND you get rewarded with equal value.

Blockchain solutions are used for cloud storage, payment processing and cyber security, just to name a few. Let’s add another one to the list. Here goes. This technology has become progressively popular in the area of none other than content creation! Surprise surprise. How, you wonder? Well, usually profits stay in the pockets of content hosting businesses instead of content creators themselves. What blockchain does is disrupt the norm and places the power back to the content creator. In exchange for hosting, distribution and security, users of platforms such as Youtube provide the ability to profit from their own content. Whilst Youtubers can make a fairly decent living out of appealing viewers to their channel, it’s not uncommon for the profits to not go back to the hands of the creator. However, some don’t care. Youtube is one of the most sought after destinations on the web and has already given creators a reliable, prolific platform, all for free.
